Tottea

Tottea (938 m above sea level) is a small mountain village in the Teramo Apennines, famous for the wealth of sandstone it is built on. Indeed, the stonemasons of these areas are renowned throughout the area, having handed down the ancient art of chiseling stone to create ornamental works of fine workmanship for generations.

The village has hosted several editions of the "Tottea Sandstone Sculpture Symposium", which attracted artists from all over Italy. From this, the idea of ​​creating an Ecomuseum of stone and its processing was developed.

An opportunity to visit Tottea is in August, when the ProLoco organizes "La Notte Azzurra", an event designed primarily to promote the area with its traditions and ancient flavors, such as the prized Pecorino della Laga and Ventricina di Tottea.

From Prati di Tivo, the small village in the municipality of Crognaleto can be reached in about 40 minutes.
