The Chestnut Grove of Senarica

The chestnut grove, located in the municipality of Crognaleto in the hamlet of Senarica, extends for approximately 70 hectares and is owned by the municipality under concession for private use. A true forest heritage of fruit trees, it appears to have been there since the 1500s, as demonstrated by the presence of numerous "veteran" trees with a diameter of approximately 3 meters. The entire grove is home to four different crops: chestnuts, marrons, uncultivated chestnuts, and uncultivated marrons.

The Senarica marron, "lu 'Nzite," is undoubtedly among the best produced in Italy. Three days of celebrations are dedicated to its tasting in October, during which the mountain village fills with numerous visitors eager to savor this delicious product.
