Nerito

Surrounded by woods, at 833 meters above sea level, lies the small village of Nerito, home to the Crognaleto municipality since 1896. Predominantly 19th-century in nature, the village can be reached in less than 40 minutes from Prati di Tivo.

The forest has always been a primary source of income for the people of Nerito. Numerous forestry enterprises and traditions related to wood and lumberjack work are still practiced today, such as the Woodcutter's Festival held in August and the Christmas Fire, much loved by the inhabitants who, on Christmas Eve, set fire to a large pyre of wood and feed it constantly until the day it is burned. turned off on the occasion of the Epiphany.

Another good reason to come here is a sporting-nature one; near the village is the Fosso di Nerito, where, thanks to the shape of the watercourse that flows through it, it is possible to indulge in river trekking. This consists of ascending, with the appropriate technical equipment, up to where the orography allows, the beds of slow-flowing mountain streams and creeks rich in waterfalls, pools, natural beauty, and dense, lush vegetation.
