Intermesoli

The small hamlet of Intermesoli, part of the municipality of Pietracamela, has approximately ninety-one inhabitants. This charming village, located 770 meters above sea level, is 1.59 km from the municipality of Pietracamela and 2.72 km from Prati di Tivo. It was the first and only hamlet of Pietracamela before Prati di Tivo became urbanized. It was founded and developed between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and was a highly populated area thanks to the abundance of wood from the forests and the wool processing associated with sheep farming.

There are a total of 217 buildings in Intermesoli, of which only 196 are in use. Of these, 154 are used for residential purposes, while 42 are used for production, commercial, or other purposes. Of the 154 residential buildings, 150 were constructed of load-bearing masonry, 4 of reinforced concrete, and 0 using other materials, such as steel, wood, or other materials. Of the residential buildings, 3 are in excellent condition, 47 are in good condition, 99 are in poor condition, and 5 are in very poor condition.

From Intermesoli, a dirt road leads to the picturesque Venacquaro Valley, a wild place nestled between Monte Corvo and Pizzo Intermesoli, a testament to ancient glaciations.
